40 Days of Praying

For Bible Literacy

By October 27, 2020No Comments

Today, we seem to have forgotten our biblical roots. Bible literacy is at an all-time low. No wonder our nation is so godless! We have become unmoored from our biblical foundation. Certainly, some churches bear the blame. Sanctified psychology preached from the pulpit cannot substitute for solid Bible teaching. But the primary responsibility of educating children about the Bible falls on parents.

If you are a parent, be sure to instruct your children in the Bible. If your own parents did not teach you about Scripture, don’t fret. It’s never too late. Make it a personal practice to read the Bible every day, even just a few verses at a time. Think about those verses, and ask God to help you put into practice what He is teaching you. And if you don’t understand what a specific verse is saying, find a good Bible teacher to help explain it to you.

Finally, pray that God renews our national interest in His Word. If enough people would take in God’s Word like their daily meals and try to live by it, then our nation would be transformed in unbelievable ways.

A Prayer for America

Heavenly Father, You have given us the priceless gift of Your Word, the Bible. Help me to cherish this love letter from You and view it as my daily bread. Use the words of Scripture, Holy Spirit, to transform me into the image of Jesus Christ. Increase Bible literacy in my life, in my home, in other homes across the nation, in churches, and in our civilization as a whole. In Your name we pray, Lord Jesus. Amen.

Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God.
