40 Days of Praying

For Our Troops

By October 5, 2020No Comments

Today—as always—we must rely on God’s help. Pray for wisdom for our military leadership. Pray for our troops going into battle, that God will fill them with skill, courage, and joy. Pray for their safety. Pray for their families from whom they are separated and whom they are not sure if they will see again. Maybe reach out to a family whose loved one is deployed and be a friend to them. Ask God if He wants you to donate to worthy causes, such as the Fisher House Foundation, the Semper Fi Fund, or the Wounded Warriors Family Support organization. Consider visiting wounded servicemembers if you live close to a Veterans Affairs hospital.

If you are currently serving in our military, thank you. We appreciate your service more than you know. Trust in Jesus as your Savior and ultimate General. Find a group of believers wherever you are, and meet with your chaplain if possible. Remember, God is your Shield and Protector, and He is with you wherever you go.

A Prayer for America

Heavenly Father, thank You for intervening many times on America’s behalf throughout our military history. Thank You for the brave men and women who have served our country and who continue to serve today. Give them skill for waging righteous warfare. They face hardships and sacrifices for us every day. Give them joy, wisdom, and courage. Provide godly chaplains who will boldly preach Your Word and minister to spiritual needs. Most of all, grant them conviction of sins and faith in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Reassure them that You are with them in battle. And let them know that my fellow citizens and I love them, support them, and are praying for them. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

Blessed be the Lord, my rock,

Who trains my hands for war,

And my fingers for battle.

—Psalm 144:1
