40 Days of Praying

For Personal Repentance

By October 25, 2020No Comments

Many Americans today make all sorts of excuses to explain away their sin: “It’s my parents’ fault.” “Everyone back then was doing it.” “The system is biased against me.” Others try to justify their actions by saying the ends justify the means. Still others have gotten away with their sins for so long, they have deadened their consciences.

Many external factors hurt us and tempt us to sin. But at some point, we have to take responsibility for our own part in sin. Then we must accept God’s forgiveness in Christ Jesus. This is the way forward, and it is the only way to national revival. Pray that millions of Americans do this exact thing.

Some of you need to repent. Some of you need to seek someone’s forgiveness. Proverbs 28:13 says, “He who conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will find compassion.” God is full of mercy and compassion. He is ready and waiting to forgive you of all of your sins right now. And He is ready to give you a new start.

A Prayer for America

Heavenly Father, I know that I am a sinner who deserves Your righteous wrath. But because of Your amazing love and grace shown to me in Jesus Christ, I can have my sins forgiven and paid for on the cross. What’s more, You can redeem every pain and mistake from my past. But I must admit my sin to You and accept responsibility for it. Help me repent quickly when I sin. And help us as a nation to repent of our sins and turn to You. You say that if we hold on to our lives, we will lose them. But if we lose our lives for Your sake, Lord Jesus, then we will find true life. Forgive us, cleanse us, and use us for Your glory to bless others and to experience fullness of life. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins

and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
