40 Days of Praying

For Revival

By November 2, 2020No Comments

Many Christians today think spiritual revival comes from the preaching of superstar evangelists. But if we want to see a revival in our nation, we do not need to wait for God to bring the next Billy Graham. We need to start with ourselves.

Revival begins when we follow several steps. First, trust the work of Jesus on the cross for your own forgiveness and salvation, if you have not already done so. Second, repent of any known sins in your life. Third, dwell on God’s Word—the Bible—every day. Next, become connected to a local body of believers—the church. Fourth, in response to what the Spirit is telling you in His Word and through biblical preaching, daily connect to Him in prayer. Pray about everything. When we pray in accordance with God’s will, He promises to give us what we ask for (1 John 5:14–15). And we know that God’s will is to see the lost saved. Finally, look for ways to minister to those around you. If you follow these steps, God will use you. And who knows, He might even use you to bring about His next great revival.

A Prayer for America

Heavenly Father, our nation needs You now as much as ever. Please bring revival to America. Give people throughout our nation a hunger for holiness and for Your Word. Thank You for calling me, and every Christian, to be salt and light in this world. Forgive me of my sin and apathy, and help me to walk according to Your Spirit. Thank You for Your amazing grace and forgiveness. May I never take it for granted. To You be all the glory. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

“I dwell on a high and holy place,

And also with the contrite and lowly of spirit

In order to revive the spirit of the lowly

And to revive the heart of the contrite.”

—Isaiah 57:15
