40 Days of Praying

For the Crisis of Fatherless Children

By October 13, 2020No Comments

Christian men, look for ways to be father figures to the fatherless children in your community, whether it’s through coaching sports, volunteering at church, or reaching out to single mothers to spend time with their children. If you are a father, God’s Word says you need to accept the responsibility of leading your family and raising your children to know the Lord.

If you are a father and have not been there for your children, you can find grace by trusting in Jesus Christ to forgive your sins, including the sin of abandonment. If you don’t know how to be a father, your Father in heaven will train you if you ask Him. Seek out godly men at your church and their guidance in being the father God wants you to be.

The same goes if you had an absent father. Look at the psalmist’s words, written for you: “My father and my mother have forsaken me, but the Lord will take me up” (Ps. 27:10). Your heavenly Father loves you so much that He sent His Son to die for your sins and rise from the dead so that He could adopt you into His everlasting family.

A Prayer for America

Heavenly Father, thank You being my perfect Father. Throughout our nation, turn the hearts of fathers to their children and children to their fathers. Remind fathers what a blessing and responsibility it is to raise their children. Help mothers to seek godly men to be fathers or father figures for their children. And help Christian men all across our country to step up to serve as father figures for a generation of fatherless children. Teach our nation’s men how to be good fathers and husbands again. Thank You for the good and heroic fathers we do have. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

A father of the fatherless and a judge for the widows,

Is God in His holy habitation.

—Psalm 68:5
